Want to get your best skin without the added hassle? Adding a body exfoliator to your regular shower routine is the easiest way we know-how.

If you’re new to the scrub market—you’re in for a treat! From chemical exfoliators through to products with bits, the Beaut Connections team regularly tries out new products to see which will help us achieve our best look yet.

Ready to dive in? We’ve rounded up the need-to-knows about the body care products below as well as suggested a few of our current favourites.

Australia’s Go-to Scrubs: Body Exfoliators for Every Skin

Whether you have dry skin, struggle with body acne, or have sensitivity issues including eczema or psoriasis, we know there is an exfoliator on the market that can help you achieve your best look.

Some of the basics to know about these treatments before looking for your next product include:

  1. Exfoliators aren’t meant to be used every day: Much like our facial care routine, our cells all over need time to replenish and turnover—a process that’s aided along with a regular scrub. However, to avoid damaging the epidermis, we don’t recommend exfoliating with whichever treatment you choose more than 2-3 per week.
  2. Same as your face—always follow up with a moisturiser! Once the old cells have been shed and new cells welcomed in, you’ll want to lock in moisture and treat the fresh epidermal layer to the right ingredients. From heavy-duty moisturisers like shea butter to acne banishing ingredients including salicylic acid and tea tree oil, the new cells can be targeted with active formulas to help you address ongoing challenges.
  3. There are two basic types of products: Chemical peels—similar to facial products—which use skin-safe acids to remove dead cells and physical scrubs—these are common among the body care market. If you’re into a physical scrub, make sure you look for natural exfoliating bits like sugar granular or seeds. (Poppy seeds, for example!) Products that have plastic microbeads are bad for the environment—and potentially your health.

Now that you know the basics, some of our favourites include:

  1. Scrub Me Down: a go-to favourite from Formula 10.0.6, this range includes a gentle, physical exfoliant from pumice stone—while also being infused with fruit and herbal extracts to nourish the skin.
  2. Sweet Buff Up: Another Formula 10.0.6 favourite, this collection is infused with cocoa butter for intense hydrating benefits while relying on brown sugar granules to buff away dead, dry cells.
  3. Glycolic Extreme Fix Pads: Technically designed for facial routines, these single use pads by Nip+fab are infused with 5% glycolic acid and salicylic acid to decongest your pores. If you struggle with body acne and blackheads, a quick swipe of these pads over any trouble areas will do the same trick from the neck — down.
